My name is Paulien Janssen (born 1968) and I've been working as an artist since 2007.
A love of animals runs like a thread through my life and forms the basis of my art.
Birds, in particular, have stolen my heart.
In my garden, I thoroughly enjoy the vibrancy of sparrows, great tits, blue tits, goldfinches, and robins.
Even during walks through the Frisian countryside and forests, I find inspiration in the many birds that live there.
In my bird paintings, I try to capture their beauty, character, and the fine details of their feathers as realistically as possible.
Each painting is created with great care, patience, and love, resulting in a unique and timeless work of art.
For my bird paintings, I use only professional materials so that the works last for generations.
My work has since found its way to collectors at home and abroad.
Furthermore, a painting by me was purchased for the well-known television series Dokter Tinus.
In 1991 and 1992, I was taught by the famous cow painter Wiebe van der Zee.
Afterwards, I took lessons from various artists to further develop my technique and style.
From 2010, I followed the program at the London Art College; Melanie Phillips was my teacher.
I obtained my diploma in 2012.
Birds bring life, color, and freedom to nature, and that is exactly the feeling I try to capture in every painting.
I hope that when people look at my bird paintings, they experience just as much joy as I do when I see a little bird.
